The Strombergs and Chadwick grew up in Sequim, Washington, and started writing songs when they were nine, eleven, and twelve years of age. Known then as The American Scholars, they arranged, recorded, and produced their first album Bite Your Lip and Take It in the basement of their home. The Stromberg brothers have lived in a family very much in the entertainment industry. Their father, William Stromberg, is a Grammy-nominated film composer, and their uncle, Robert Stromberg, has multiple Academy Awards as Art Director for Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and is currently directing the Angelina Jolie movie Maleficent. Their mother, Laraine Claire, is a jazz harp player and composer.
